About us

Heating and cooling work suited to the Santa Clara Valley

ChillPro AC Repair works on heating and cooling systems in homes across San Jose and the nearby South Bay cities. The Santa Clara Valley has dry summers and mild, damp winters, and inland and southern parts of the valley run noticeably hotter than areas near the Bay. That means an air conditioner in one neighborhood may work much harder in August than one a few miles away, while furnaces and heat pumps still need to handle cold winter mornings. We repair, maintain and install central air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps and ductless mini-splits, and we also handle duct cleaning and indoor air quality. Every visit starts with finding out what is actually wrong. We explain what we found in plain terms, walk through your options, and let you decide. If a repair makes sense, we say so. If replacement is worth considering, we explain why and what your choices are.

What to expect

How a visit goes

  1. Diagnose first

We look for the cause of the problem, not just the symptom. You'll know what failed and why before we recommend any repair or replacement.

  2. Clear options

When there's more than one reasonable path, such as repairing an older furnace or switching to a heat pump, we lay out the tradeoffs so you can decide what fits your home and plans.

  3. Straight answers on rules and incentives

Bay Area appliance rules and rebate programs change. We tell you what currently applies and confirm incentive details before including them in a quote.

FAQ

Common questions

Do the new Bay Area rules mean I have to replace my gas furnace?

No. The Bay Area Air District appliance rules do not require you to replace working equipment. They apply only when an existing furnace fails or is replaced. Starting in 2029, natural gas furnaces manufactured for sale must meet a zero-NOx emission standard. In practice, that points homeowners toward heat pumps when they replace a furnace after that date.

Can I still get the federal tax credit for a heat pump?

Not for new installations. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit covered qualifying heat pumps placed in service before December 31, 2025. It is not available for heat pumps installed after that date.

Are there any local incentives for heat pumps?

Possibly. Bay Area homeowners can check BayREN and their local clean energy provider for current heat pump and electrification incentives. Amounts and availability change with each funding cycle, so we confirm the current offer before including it in a quote.

Should I repair my air conditioner or replace it?

It depends on what failed, the age and condition of the system, and how well it has kept your home cool. A single worn part on an otherwise healthy unit is usually worth repairing. Repeated breakdowns, major component failures or a system that can't keep up on hot days may make replacement worth considering. We'll explain what we find and give you both options when both make sense.

How often should I have my HVAC system maintained?

Once a year is a good baseline for each system. Many homeowners schedule air conditioner service in spring before the summer heat and furnace service in fall before heating season. Because a heat pump handles both heating and cooling, it runs much of the year and benefits from regular checkups.

Is a ductless mini-split a good fit for my home?

Mini-splits work well for rooms without ductwork, home additions, converted garages, and upstairs rooms that stay hotter than the rest of the house. They can also serve a whole home in some cases. We'll look at your layout and how you use each space before recommending one.

How do I know if my ducts need cleaning?

Signs include visible dust or debris blowing from vents, dust building up quickly after cleaning, musty odors when the system runs, or recent remodeling that produced a lot of dust. If you're unsure, we can inspect the ducts and tell you whether cleaning is worthwhile.
